The project leader doc. RNDr. Matej Vojtek, PhD. had a popularization lecture on the event called "Science Cafe", which was held on 13 May 2025 at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Informatics, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. The topic of his lecture was "Flood Hazard and Risk Mapping". In the first part of his presentation, he described flood types, past flood events and the associated flood damage in Slovakia in the years 2001-2023. The second part of his lecture was focused on the Gidra River Basin case study, where he presented flood hazard and risk mapping approach at the local spatial scale. The last part of the lecture was focused on introducing the ongoing project "Flood Hazard Mapping with the Use of Detailed Geo-spatial Data and Hybrid Approaches", which is funded by the EU NextGenerationEU through the Recovery and Resilience Plan for Slovakia (project No. 09I03-03-V03-00085). He explained the project objectives, research team, individual work packages, and presented already obtained partial results. After the presentation, a discussion followed, where he was given several questions from the participants of the event related to the issues of flood hazard mapping and, especially, to the project focus and its outputs.
