During 3-8 May 2026, the project leader doc. RNDr. Matej Vojtek, PhD. and the team member doc. RNDr. Jana Vojteková, PhD. actively attended the international scientific conference “EGU General Assembly 2026“, which was held at the Austrian Center Vienna and organized by the European Geosciences Union. It is an annually organized conference event, which hosted in these days 22,497 registered attendees, of which 20,027 made their way to Vienna from 125 countries and 2,407 joined online from 107 countries. Moreover, 20,173 presentations were given in 1,014 sessions.
Doc. RNDr. Matej Vojtek, PhD. and doc. RNDr. Jana Vojteková, PhD. from the Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Regional Development presented the research entitled “Evaluating the river-to-river transferability of deep learning-based fluvial flood extent predictions“ in a poster session. The presented research was also co-authored by RNDr. Dávid Držík, PhD. and doc. PaedDr. Jozef Kapusta, PhD. from the Department of Informatics. The presented research is a part of the project entitled “Flood hazard mapping with the use of detailed geo-spatial data and hybrid approaches“ and it is linked mainly to the fourth work package of this project. Throughout the conference, both our researchers had also the chance to attend many other oral and poster presentations and discuss similar issues to the ones being investigated in the project.
