Project results presented on the 10th International Conference on Cartography and GIS

During 14-19 June 2026, the project leader doc. RNDr. Matej Vojtek, PhD. and the team members doc. RNDr. Jana Vojteková, PhD. and RNDr. Gabriela Repaská, PhD. actively attended 10th International Conference on Cartography and GIS, which was held in Nessebar, Bulgaria. The conference was jointly organized by the Bulgarian Cartographic Association and the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Sofia. The conference hosted 130 registered attendees from 27 countries.

The project team from the Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Regional Development presented their research via two oral presentations entitled “Fluvial flood inundation prediction using Random Forest model trained on hydraulic flood maps and high-resolution spatial data“ and  “Pluvial flood inundation modeling of extreme rainfall using the rain-on-grid method in MIKE+ hydraulic model: a case study”. The presented research was also co-authored by RNDr. Dávid Držík, PhD. from the Department of Informatics and RNDr. Katarína Vilinová, PhD. from Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Regional Development. The two presentations are a part of the project entitled “Flood hazard mapping with the use of detailed geo-spatial data and hybrid approaches“ and they are linked mainly to the third and sixth work package of this project. Throughout the conference, our researchers had also the chance to attend other oral and poster presentations and discuss similar issues to the ones being investigated in the project.

The conference papers were published after the conference.
